Yukhika-latuhse
(She tells us stories)
Yukhika-latuhse is the writing journal published through Oneida Nation Arts Program. The first issue appeared in 2005. Our purpose is to present the Native American voice and so in our pages will be found a mix of established and beginning writers. We publish annually in late August. Manuscripts are accepted from May 1st to May 15th.
These are some of the writers in our first four issues:
Issue 1: Kimberly Blaeser, Bruce King, Denise Sweet, 24 others;
Issue 2: Maurice Kenny, Gladyce Nahbenayash, Ed Two Rivers, 14 others;
Issue 3: Migizikwe, Edna Gordon, Selene G. Phillips, Joseph Bruchac, 15 others;
Issue 4: Alice Azure, Ed Two Rivers, Maurice Kenny, Narciso L. Aleman, 14 others.
We also have an active outreach function, presenting Native Writers Workshops on Wisconsin reservations and in Native communities. Thus far, our workshops have occurred in Wisconsin at Lac du Flambeau, Red Cliff and in Milwaukee.
