DESCRIPTION
“Get Ready for Grand Entry. Drum group, are you ready? Dancers, are you ready? Students, are you ready...” to experience a powwow?
From the dignified and graceful Traditional Dancers to the vibrant and colorful Fancy Dancers, a powwow is a time to get together to sing, dance, renew old friendships and make new ones.
Our powwow is held in a circle, flowing practices of the western Indian Nations. The circle represents the continuous cycle of life. Everyone has a place in this circle of life.
And at a powwow, everyone is a participant, even if you don’t do anything but lend your presence. In this presentation, students will see a demonstration and learn about the different outfits, dances, and customs at powwow.
PROGRAMS
